Music magazine advert

This blog post will be discussing the process from design of  the first draft of our music magazine advert to the final version.

To begin the process of designing our music magazine advert , we had a similar discussion in regards to the one we had for the design of our digipak .Having the questions of how do we represent the artist and her song within the music magazine advert? and what happens to teenagers on a drunken Friday night? in our minds.

One of my team members came up with the idea of teenagers ending up in hospital, therefore we could draw a teenage on a hospital bed for the music magazine advert. However my other team member and I felt that the idea was overwhelming and  did not want to use that idea. Therefore as a group we decided to go away and individually think of other ideas that we could use for the music
 magazine advert.

When we regrouped to discuss the new ideas we had , my two other group members came up with the idea of having a black and white background, with three photos of the artist from different angles , one from the artist looking from the right side, left side and  the font view, to showcase our creativity with different camera angles  In addition to this we also decided to have the album name and the reviews written in gold font to signify fun and to coincide with the digipak.

The task of designing the music magazine advert was delegated to me.In my first draft of magazine advert (refer to picture 1) the drawings of the artist and the writing were seen to be too small, thus leaving a lot of blank space on the advert which would not visually appeal  our target audience.

I rectified this issues within the final draft of the music magazine advert ( refer to picture 2) by making the writing of the font and the pictures bigger. I decided that the artist in the pictures should be wearing casual clothing therefore , I coloured the artist jeans in dark blue and drew a black jacket over a white t-shrit. In order to connote the artist rebellious side with can be reinforced, through the black with in the black and white background. Furthermore I also decide to have the song My Drunken Friday Night written in black in order to stand out from the other titles.

I felt that We love pop magazine would be an appropriate magazine to use for the review
as the magazine is aimed towards teenagers, thus coinciding  with our target audience. In addition to this We love pop features artist such as Ed Sheeran and Little Mix which the artist Bethan Leady listens too, and has a similar style of music to her.I felt that another  appropriate magazine to use for the reviews should came  NME  as it features up and coming artist , similar to the situation that Bethan Leadly is in.
