Evaluation part 3
How effective was your main product and ancillary texts ?
I felt that or main product which consisted of the music video My Drunken Friday Night and the ancillary texts which consisted of the digipak and music magazine advert was very effective,as through the use of the picture of the main protagonist looking drunk on the pier used as the main image on the front panel of the digipak, , this represented the artist as a person with a fun personality who is young and carefree , this is seen to be the common traits that is highlighted in young artist within the indie pop culture. such as the We Fit Together Blanket Barricade (Official Music Video). At 1.18 through the use of a two shot were the teenage girl can be seen drinking a whole bottle of alcohol which could signify that she just wants to have a good time without a care in the world, further highlighted by her other hand reaching for another drink. As the shot of the main protagonist being drunk by the pier occurring in the music video this helped create synergy between the two products.

shot used in the music video
The use of the bagie diamond back ground on the digipak and music magazine advert , in my opinion created a scrapbook effect , thus interlinking with the lyric in the music video ' ill remember this night for the rest of my life. As the phrase scrapbook has connotations of memories.

The representation of the artist being young , carefree and free spirited interlinks with the title of the album forever eighteen as the number eighteen has connotations of enjoyment , excitement and fun. In addition to this there was also a photo of the main protagonist playing the guitar with nature scenery behind her.Although there is not a shot of this within the music video, I think that this was a beneficial photo to have as it represented a different side to the artist showing someone who is relaxed and has a natural sound to their voice, hence interlinking with the Ellie Gouding digipack of her sitting on the grass and showing a juxtaposition between the photos.

Through a discussion with my team member Kory we came up with a list of themes that we felt occurred in our music videos. which were heartache which can be identified through the use of a text message conversation between the female and her ex in the music video. loneliness as she is by herself in the music video quite a bit ,for example by the pier. Nostalgia highlighted in the beginning of the music video were she is looking at a photo on her phone of her and her ex,
The theme of nostalgia can be convened in the Ellie Goulding - Your Song music video at 0.51 through a close up shot which incorporates home made video effects thus adding sentimental value to the music video. Due to variation of themes occur in our music video this conforms to Davids Bowell's theory that any theme can appear in any genre .

Synergy was also created through the use of the establishing shot of Southbank that was used in the start of the music video and the photo of south bank used on the track list. This in my opinion was very effect as it showcase the artist embracing her London side, thus appeal to the people of British hertiage in our target group, although our music video can be listened to by people from all different ethnic backgrounds. In addition to this synergy was further created through the use of the images on the digipak and music magazine advert of her having her hand covering her face, which was also seen in the music video, thus signifying the main protagonist shy side.

Moreover from my independent research the nature scenery can be seen to be common location use in indie pop culture videos, examples included Fun.: Why Am I The One [OFFICIAL VIDEO] at 3.44 through a point of view shot and Charli XCX - Boom Clap music video through a medium close up shot at 0.08.

After a group discussion we decide the key branding elements that we wanted our artist to have, one of the key elements were being fashionable , this was done through the use of casual clothing , for example a green jacket and a pair of jeans.

Evaluation part 1-Brief
After listening to a selection of her songs on Sound cloud , such as lights and wonder I chose the song Rock Bottom. As I enjoyed listening to the up tempo beat within the song and the genre of the song which can be identified as RnB .Debbie Aramide soulful voice is what attracted me to her as an artist, as in addition to listening to RnB music I enjoy listening to Jazz music and the I seeked permission to use her song messaged the artist through her email and official Facebook page. Blog reflection questions week 14
What have you been doing this week? What key concept have you been focusing on?
The key concept that I focused on this week was finishing off our music video on Final cut pro , For this I got my other team members to watch the video and then asked for their feedback. One of my team members said that to improve the music video I should move the shot of a cartoon photo which says I can't believe we drank that much from the middle of the music video to the end. Using that idea I made the changes and we all as a group decided that it made the music video look better. Through look at my other team members work on the digipak and the music magazine advert we acknowledge as a group that finishing touches needed to be added such as a bar code and social media icons. Also during this week we started exam perpetration for our exam in June, looking at section B Media in the online age.

Blog reflection questions week 13
What have you been doing this week? What key concept have you been focusing on?
The key concept that I have been focusing on this week is using the feedback given by my media teacher and other team members to improve on the editing that I worked on for our music video. One piece of feedback that I got given was from my my media teacher who said that some of the shots within the music video went on for too long. Therefore in order to rectify this problem I used the blade tool to cut down the shots. I also looked at the work that my other team members were doing on the digipak and music magazine advert, This lead to a discussion with my team members on what photos should be used, which we are still deciding on.Also this week I also reviewed my blog looking for grammatical and spelling errors Saturday, 11 April 2015
Blog reflection question week 12
What have you been doing this week? What key concept have you been focusing on?
The key concept that I have been focusing on this week again is continuing with the editing with my other team members. As during our meet up session in the media room this week we built upon the editing that we had done last week, by deciding to incorporate a black and white shots at the beginning to represent the flashback that the main female protagonist is having at the beginning. In addition to this as we had two more media products to construct for our media advance portfolio project. We decided as a group that I would continue working on the editing of the music video whilst my other team members worked on the digipak and music magazine advert on Photoshop.

Music video feedback analysis
After giving my pitch for my music video. I sat down to have a discussion with my colleagues to find out their thoughts on my music video pitch. One of my classmates Roxane said that she liked my pitch because it was very detailed , However she did not understand the connection between the lyrics of the song and the video. I found this constructive criticism useful as I did feel that I rushed through the lyrics section during my presentation .
Therefore in order to give her and my other colleagues a clearer understanding of the lyrics. I explained that the lyrics of the song was to do about heart break as the main protagonist in the video who is a female.found out that her boyfriend is cheating on her. From this I further went on to explain that one of the ways I want to represent the theme of heart break in my music video
through a blurry point of view shot in order to coincide with the lyric of the song 'But I couldn't see you weren't an angel in my eyes.' Roxane also asked where the location of my music video would be , in which I responded by saying the Assembly hall or the Drama hall.

Johnson another one of my colleagues asked me how I was going to create the feeling of heartbreak and love in the hall .I also felt that this constructive criticism was useful , I responded to this by explaining that in the hall the girl ( main protagonist in the video ) will be performing when she sees her ex boyfriend with his new girlfriend, and runs off stage to go outside to delete his girlfriend contact from her phone. However we do not know the how his new girl friend and her are related. For example best friends or cousins.
In addition to my colleagues Roxane and Johnson giving me feedback my teacher Mr Mallen asked me what the percentage wise would be between the performance and narrative part within my my music video. To answer his question I explained that narrative would be the main part within the music video and the performance part would be towards the end. My teacher also drew upon the lighting, pace of the song and suggest that the editing of the song should be slow paced, and made me made reconsider the shots that I wanted to use with the music video. For example the bird's eye view.

Blog reflection questions- week 11
What have you been doing this week? What key concept have you been focusing on?
The key concept this week that my group members and I have been focusing on is editing. Following on from the filming my group members and I did during last week, we then agreed to me up in the media room. In order to use Final cut pro on the Mac computers to start constructing our final music video. Therefore in order to do this we had to import the footage filmed on the Cannon camcorder onto final cut pro then we began editing. Which at the start seemed to be difficult however as the time progressed during our meet up session in the media room the editing got easier. At the end of session we then decided on what day we wanted to me up again to continue editing. Also during this week another key concept that we focused on was taking pictures for the digipak and music magazine advert.

Blog reflection - week 10
What have you been doing this week? What key concept have you been focusing on?
During this week I focused on reviewing my research part of my coursework looking out for grammatical errors and where I could expand my paragraphs, in order to ensure that I have gone into as much detail as possible. in addition to this I also added pictures to my weekly reflection blogs. I also finalised final filming dates with my other team members.
Music magazine advert
This blog post will be discussing the process from design of the first draft of our music magazine advert to the final version.
To begin the process of designing our music magazine advert , we had a similar discussion in regards to the one we had for the design of our digipak .Having the questions of how do we represent the artist and her song within the music magazine advert? and what happens to teenagers on a drunken Friday night? in our minds.
One of my team members came up with the idea of teenagers ending up in hospital, therefore we could draw a teenage on a hospital bed for the music magazine advert. However my other team member and I felt that the idea was overwhelming and did not want to use that idea. Therefore as a group we decided to go away and individually think of other ideas that we could use for the music
magazine advert.
When we regrouped to discuss the new ideas we had , my two other group members came up with the idea of having a black and white background, with three photos of the artist from different angles , one from the artist looking from the right side, left side and the font view, to showcase our creativity with different camera angles In addition to this we also decided to have the album name and the reviews written in gold font to signify fun and to coincide with the digipak.
The task of designing the music magazine advert was delegated to me.In my first draft of magazine advert (refer to picture 1) the drawings of the artist and the writing were seen to be too small, thus leaving a lot of blank space on the advert which would not visually appeal our target audience.
I rectified this issues within the final draft of the music magazine advert ( refer to picture 2) by making the writing of the font and the pictures bigger. I decided that the artist in the pictures should be wearing casual clothing therefore , I coloured the artist jeans in dark blue and drew a black jacket over a white t-shrit. In order to connote the artist rebellious side with can be reinforced, through the black with in the black and white background. Furthermore I also decide to have the song My Drunken Friday Night written in black in order to stand out from the other titles.
I felt that We love pop magazine would be an appropriate magazine to use for the review
as the magazine is aimed towards teenagers, thus coinciding with our target audience. In addition to this We love pop features artist such as Ed Sheeran and Little Mix which the artist Bethan Leady listens too, and has a similar style of music to her.I felt that another appropriate magazine to use for the reviews should came NME as it features up and coming artist , similar to the situation that Bethan Leadly is in.

Blog reflection questions - week nine
What have you been doing this week? What key concept have you been focusing on?
This week my team members and I focused on finishing the finial drawings of our digipak and magazine music advert , as this was a big task we decided to split the work. I worked on redeveloping the magazine advert as the drawings and the title were too small on the first draft ,which left a lot of blank space, whilst my team member worked on the digipak . One of the colours we decided to use on the digpak was pink on the flowers to show that she has a girly side despite being rebellious. Another colour we decided to use was yellow for the title to convey excrement.
Furthermore this week we took the final pictures that we wanted to use for our digipak and magazine music advert, in order to take a variety of photo's my team member took five photos whilst I took another five, using vast array of different shot types such as a close up shot and low angle.

Digipak
Digipak
This blog will be discussing and highlighting the ideas we had for our digpak and how they contributed towards the final drawing of the digipak.

| Picture 1 |
When construing the first draft of our digipak ( refer to picture 1) my team members and I sat down to discuss what was the best way to reflect the artist Bethan Leadly and her song My Drunken Friday Night in the digipak. For that reason we had the question what happens to a teenage on a drunken night? circulating in our minds. From this we came up with ideas such as a teenager being surrounded by broken bottles and taking a selfie with friends.
As a teenage being surrounded with broken bottles was an idea that we all agreed upon we decided to use that idea on the front of our digipak, Developing the idea further by having the artist sit on the stairs. In addition to this we also decided to have a collage showing different parts of SouthBank.
Following on from our first draft of are digipak , we decided as a group to produce a second draft (refer to picture 2) in order to develop our ideas further , for this draft our focus was on the back panels of the digipak as we did not touch upon this within the first draft. On one of the back panels we decided to have bibliography on the artist along with a picture of the artist. In order for our target audience of girls aged 16-30 to be informed about the artist Bethan Leadly, as they may not know a lot about her due to her being an unsigned artist.
Whilst the other back panel we decided to have a picture of the artist in the recording studio. This was taken as inspiration from the Ellie Goulding digipak as we felt it best reflected Bethan Leadly by showcasing her as a person who has a natural voice, similar to the Ellie Goulding digipak.

In our final version of digipak (refer to picture 4) instead of having a collage of pictures of SouthBank we decided to have a collage of pictures of the artist taken from different camera angles in order to show our creativity as a group. Furthermore we also decided to have flowers around the cd which were coloured in pink in order to show the artist girly side.
In addition to this we also agreed upon having the writing in the digipak written in gold font to convey excitement and fun. This can be highlighted in the song My Drunken Friday Night through the lyric ' Tonight is the night to feel alive'. Where the word ' alive has connotations of enjoyment and being energetic.

Blog reflection questions - week eight
What have you been doing this week? What key concept have you been focusing on?
During this week my team members and I focused on going to South Bank river to begin filming for our music video. Before we set out as a group to film, we went through the shooting script ( a printed out version) and highlighted the shots that we felt we could film that day. In order to make sure that our day was practical.
In addition to this I found this week a great learning experience for me.Due to the fact that I along with my team members took into consideration the practicality of how the shots were going to be composed, along with being creative with the shots that we filmed. in order to make sure that they were high quality standards
I felt that we were creative by filming shots such as the main protagonist checking pictures on her phone by the and a point of view shot of main protagonist looking at the river, for the beginning of our music video, as opposed to the common shots that is seen within the beginning music videos. For example TGIF by Katy Perry of the night after a house party.

Blog reflection questions - week seven
What have you been doing this week? What key concept have you been focusing on?
During this week my team members and I discussed ideas we had for our digpac and magazine advert in order to develop the ideas we had further. For our digpac we came up with the idea to have a collage of pictures showing the locations on one of the panels as we felt that it would make our digpac stand out. On the other hand my other two team members came up with the idea of having a back and white background for the magazine cover.
Also during this week the key concept that I focused on was Photoshop, were I learnt how to merge photos together. In order to do this me and my team member went around the school and took a variation of photos. From using Photoshop I learnt that i must take into consideration the reason behind choosing two photos that i want to merge together.

Job roles
Job roles
As
there are many jobs required to film our music video, my team members and I decide
to share out the job roles by picking the roles we felt were best suited for us
to do in order to make sure that none of us feel overwhelmed with the work load.
Locations
/Recce manager
Will
be Charlene as pitching her idea for this music video she exactly knew what
locations she wanted to use to film the music video. As a result of this the
role of the Locations /Recce manager was delegated to Charlene.
Casting agent
Will be Charlene because as well as having a
clear idea of the locations she also had a clear vision of the people who
should be in the music video in her pitch. Therefore this will ensure that
suitable people are cast to be in our music video
Costume design
Will
be Charlene as in her spare time she enjoys researching what outfits are in and
out of fashion to expand her knowledge on the fashion industry. Therefore the
job role of costume design.
Set manager
Will be Kory as he feels that he can make sure
all the sets that are needed for the music video are of a high quality
standard, in addition to this he’s good observation skills will enable him to
spot any problems with the set ( eg a
chair broken) quickly so that it doesn’t hinder filming or music video.
Photography
Will
be Temi (me) because I have experience in taking photos. In addition to this my
creative skills will inspired me to explore different angles and places that I can
take pictures from.
Call sheets

be Temi (me) as I have good time management skills will enable me to keep on
top of things, therefore I will be to
have time to oversee the call sheet and
make sure that everyone is where they need to be when filming particular scenes.
Storyboard
Will
be Kory as he has experience in creating storyboards as he created a storyboard
last year for his As media coursework.
Flat plan
For
the flat plan job role we decided as a group that we should all take responsibility
for this role in order to make sure that there is a lot of creative input.
Production
schedule
Will be Charlene as her good organisational
skills will allow her to plan efficiently what are the most suitable day’s for the scenes
to be filmed needed for or music video
Treatment

As
the treatment plan is a large task we will all share the responsibility to complete
the treatment plan.
