This blog will be analysing three professional digipak's . The first digipak that i will be analysing is from Katy perry.
Katy Perry is an American music artist who became well recognized in the music industry after her song 'i kissed a girl was released. Katy Perry can be seen to branded as sex symbol. This can be highlighted in her music videos such as California girls where Katy Perry can be seen to be wearing short denim jeans and a bra with cupcakes on them, this can be established at (3:05) through the use of a wide shot. The cupcakes could connote sweetness and enjoyment.

This coincides with the main image of the digipak of Katy Perry laying on cotton candy clouds. Cotton candy relates to the funfair, this may simulate memories of enjoyment in the target audience mind , thus presenting Katy Perry as an artist who is entertaining and playful . As she has no clothes on this maybe signifying how pleasurable this album is going to be for the male target audience hence linking with the voyeurism theory as men will look at the main for pleasure.
Furthermore through the of a medium shot we can establish Katy Perry laying on the cotton candy clouds in a sexulised position wearing red lipstick ( on one of the panels) connoting passion and luring the male target audience to buy her album. Even though Katy Perry's digipack can be seen to targeting the male audience, the primary audience is being targeted is females, this can be inferred by the use of the colour pink on all 3 panels of the digipack which is viewed as a feminine color, thus highlight Katy Perry's feminine side and how the digipack was constructed to be aimed at men and women aged 18-30 in order to broaden her audience resulting in a high number of sales.
in order for a clear distinction to be made between the explicit verison and non explicit of Katy Perry's digipack there has been no name and title placed on the explicit version . In addition to this there is also a parent advisory logo.

The second digipack that I am going to analyse is a from Ellie Goulding who is a British music artist who can be identified by her dominate indie pop music genre in contrast to the other music genres she sings.
As oppose to the Katy Perry digipack Ellie Goulding digipak express the view that there is no need to be over sexualised in order to sell albums, as through medium shot on the CD we can establish that Ellie Goulding is fully clothed with a bow tie added as an accessory thus highlighting sophistication. Which can be further conveyed through the title and her name written in a black classy font .Moreover Ellie Goulding eyes is closed suggest to the audience that they will feel relax when they listen to the album , thus presenting Ellie Goulding as a peaceful artist.
This can also be conveyed through the back cover of the digipack through a wide shot of Ellie Goulding siting on the on the grass highlighting the natural sound this album has. Also on the back cover of the digipack there is a track list in a variation of different fonts suggest to her target audience of males and females aged 19-30 that she is a diverse artist.
A flower is superimposed on the main image of a close of Ellie Goulding on the front cover of the digipak highlighting that Ellie Goulding has grown into a beautiful artist with a natural voice , which can also be inferred through the photo of her in the recording studio with a microphone and playing a guitar showing that she doesn't need auto-tune.

The third digipak that i am going analyse is from coldplay a British band who can be identified by their rock music genre , who rose to fame in 2000 when their song yellow was released.
The picture of a painting of the french revolution on the front cover of the digipack .Could be symbolising how bold coldplay are as a band and how hunger they are for success that they are willing to go to war for it and not let anything stand in there way in order to stamp their mark in the music industry which can be highlighted by the title of the album written in white paint.
One of the panels have been split into quarters in order to show the different members of band and their individual styles, thus highlighting how unite they are as a band.
A juxtaposition of colours can be highlighted through the track list informing the audience of the songs on the album, which is is written in yellow font against a black background signifying to it target audience of males and females age 19-30 the mysterious and happy side this album has.
