Richard Dyer's theory
Stars as constructions
Miley Cryus is an example of an artist that fits into this theory of stars as constructions. As before her wrecking ball music days , she was an actress on the Disney channel show Hanna Montana where she was molded by Disney channel as a young, innocent , American teenager who rarely got into trouble. This can be conveyed medium shot at (1:12) in which we can see Miley Cryus in an episode of Hanna Montana fully clothed whilst smiling while playing with the ends of her hair. Therefore highlighting how innocent she looks as a teenager.

However after Hanna Montana finished Miley Cryus decided to revamp her image so that she was no longer know as the sweet Hanna Montanan girl on Disney channel but instead know as the girl who is wild and does anything she wants in life. This can be conveyed in her music video we can't stop. Through the use of a medium close up shot at (0.24) we can see Miley Cryus wearing a white tank top and laying on a bed in a seductive position. Thus highlight the juxtaposition of her image during her Hanna Montana days and now.Furthermore the colour white could imply that her purity has been washed away . in addition her red lipstick has connotations of sexiness therefore conforming to Laura Murvey's theory that women are viewed as sexualised objects

Another perspective that is looked at within this theory is stars as products . This states that stars are there to fill the gap in the market .Justin Bieber is an example of an artist that fits into this theory of stars as products. As in addition to his sales from his music albums he also has merchandise which consist of products such as perfume pillowcases and stationary. Justin Bieber has a large fan base which consist of young teenage girls age 8 upwards.

This shows her being confident and powerful by confronting the men in her music video. This can be conveyed in Beyonce's music video Run the World, through the use of a medium close up shot at (4:45) in which we see Beyonce stand in front of a man with a serious facial expression on her face, therefore showing the that she is not intimidate by men . As a result of this women all over the world feel inspired to be confident.
Beyonce's alter ego Sasha Ferice has been perceived by the media as a person who dresses revealingly. This can be further highlighted in her music video Run the World, through the use of a wide shot at (2.40) in which we can see Beyonce wearing a low cut yellow dress. Thus conforming Laura Murvey's theory that women are viewed as sexualised objects.Furthermore the yellow signifies happiness, highlighting that Beyoncé Is confident with her body image, Hence empowering women all over the world the world to also feel satisfied with their body image.

Stars as personalities
Is also a theory looked at within Richard Dyer's star theory. This states that in order for artists to be successful they have to connect with their target audience on a personal level , as well as through their own music. This can be done through social networking sites such as Twitter and meet and greet with fans. This can be shown by Karmin (an American group) Twitter account in which they can be seen to interact with fans (see image bellow.) From this Twitter conversation with a fan we can see that Karmin have a sweet personality through showing love to a fan using the X and O sign.

Stars as embodiments of ideologies as a culture
Another perspective that is looked at within this theory is stars as embodiments of ideologies as a culture . ideology can be defined as set of beliefs based cultural values. Beyonce has been seen to emobodied the R&B culture through her alter ego Sasha Ferice. which is highlighted through her music videos run the world and if i were a boy.
