Beachcomb

Beachcomb

This blog will be looking at music videos from a variety genres such as Pop and R&B which have inspired me for the music video that I am going to produce and the reasons why the music videos have inspired me.

R&B
The music video that has inspired me from the R&B music genre is John Legend's All of me music video, due to the black and white filming highlighting the fact that not everything has to be seen in colour to convey a message.

Through the use of a wide shot at(3:25) we can see  John Legend's  and his wife holding onto each other whist kissing in the pool with no one around.Hence highlight that the big gestures don't always matter in a relationship that counts as it the small simple things that matter. This is further empathised by the black and white filming highlighting the simplicity of their love. This has inspired me to use a black and white editing effect within my music video to highlight the simplicity of things.

Soul
The music video that has inspired me from the soul music genre, is Sam Smith I'm not the only one music video due to the emotional  facial expressions. This can be conveyed through the use of a close up shot (1:23). in which see a women  crying with mascara running down her face . As a result of this the audience can sympathise with her and feel the true extent of the pain and heartbreak she is going through, which some of the audience can relate to. Therefore this has inspired me to use facial expression for example angry and happy within my music video in order to connect with the audience.

The music video also leaves the audience with speculation, as towards  the end of the music video through the use of a two shot a (4:23).We can see the women hug her husband smiling after he has coming back from spending time with  another women. therefore this has left the audience speculating what is going to happen next as she knows. As a result this has inspired me to maybe incorporate a cliff hanger with in my music video in order  to make the video memorable.

POP

The music video that has inspired from the pop genre is Pharrel  Williams Happy music video, due to showing different people dancing in different locations. This can be conveyed through a medium close up shot at (1:03) in which we can see a lady in a yellow top dancing in the streets at night in which her yellow top connotes happiness.

This can be juxtaposed by the medium shot at (1:09) in which we can see a lady in a green top dancing in the daylight. Therefore this shows the audience that no matter what time it is you should be happy and dancing. As a result of this , this has inspired me to film in a variety of different locations for my music video to make it more interesting.

Dance

The music video that has inspired from the dance genre is Titanium by David Guetta  ft Sia. Due to the mysterious element with in the music video. This can be conveyed through the use of a wide shot at ( 0:17) in which we can see a young boy amongst   destruction  at the beginning of the music video. As a result of this, this makes the audience glued to their screens in  anticipation in order to know what happens next . Therefore this has made me consider adding a mysterious element with in my music video.

Gospel

The music video that has inspired from the Gospel genre is Mary Mary - Shackles, due to the vast amount of people dancing in the  street which adds to the fun with in the music video. whist also getting the people who are watching the music video to dance. this can be conveyed wide shot at (1:22) which shows people dancing in the street. This has made me consider adding a dance element with in my music video)

Rap
The music video that has inspired from the rap music genre is  Iggy Azalea - Black Widow ft. Rita Ora due to interesting narrative and empathising girl power which can be conveyed through the use of a birds eye view at (4:30) in which we see the two girls atempting to fight off men with swords.  This has  also made me consider highlighting  girl power  within my music video.
